Meet Our Doctors

Dr. C. Douglas Stine

Dr. Stine earned his Bachelor of Science degree from North Dakota State University. He was awarded his Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University in Oregon. Because research continues to alter the world of eye care, Dr. Stine is committed to continuous study. He currently holds certifications in both Diagnostic and Therapeutic Ocular Disease Management as well as advanced training in contact lenses and laser refractive co-management. Dr. Stine grew up in North Dakota with his three brothers and three sisters. Married and the father of five, Dr. Stine understands the importance of family. As a patient of Stine Eye Center you can expect to be treated as a member of our eye care family.

Dr. Robert Kessen

Dr. Kessen earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where he graduated with honors. His decision to pursue a career in Optometry can be directly traced to encouragement from Dr. Stine while being fit with contact lenses as a teen. Dr. Kessen has been practicing optometry in the Wausau area for over 15 years and is committed to providing excellent, thorough, and gentle vision and eye care services. He holds a special interest in state-of-the-art contact lenses and advanced contact lens research. In his free time, Dr. Kessen can be found spending time with his wife and daughters, as well as with his extended Wausau Alliance Church family. Some of his special hobbies include deer hunting and spending time outdoors.

Dr. C. Gregory Vickers

Dr. Vickers earned his Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. With special interests in ocular pathology and difficult-to-fit contact lenses, Dr. Vickers is trained to provide the most advanced optometric care possible. In 2007, he earned Fellowship status with the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Vickers also presents a special passion for optometry, having grown up with a grandfather who was blind. “He never knew what I looked like as a child. Growing up with that experience gave me some direction in my career choice”, states Dr. Vickers. Now, with two beautiful children of his own, Dr. Vickers is constantly reminded that one should never stop learning. When not busy caring for his patients, you will find Dr. Vickers hunting, fishing, or golfing with his family and friends.

“ Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
